James’ work focuses heavily on existing within time, the motion of life and fluidity of experience.
Finding his artistic feet in the world of graffiti for over two decades, James then began to focus less on making a mark on the exterior world and more of how we make our marks internally and how that can be shown in portraiture.
Hinting on realism but also embodying the maelstrom of events, feelings, thoughts and emotions that happen within us.
‘A photograph is perfect at showing a moment in time, but I want to show people existing and no one is perfectly still, either our physical facial features are moving or our thoughts, and that’s what I’m trying to display in the looseness of my work, hinting on realism but never with enough focus to escape the tide of time’.
